Our ServicesWe work closely with equipment designers, both domestically and internationally, to help identify and address potential hazards and compliance issues. We can also help them meet end-user design review requirements early in the equipment development stage. Obtaining safety certifications can be an overwhelming experience, and we understand that our clients can't afford re-designing when it comes time to take their products to market. With our help in the certification process, projects can be completed smoothly and in a timely fashion. Belay Engineering is a full service company. We provide:
Equipment EvaluationsSEMI S2We typically perform equipment evaluations on site at the manufacturer’s facility. For SEMI S2 evaluations we perform all of the SEMI S9 electrical testing as well as noise level testing, temperature testing, chemical sampling, ventilation testing, ionizing and non-ionizing and laser radiation testing as required. CE MarkingFor CE Marking evaluations, we evaluate and test to recognized EN standards such as EN 60204-1, Safety of Equipment and machines, and EN 61010, Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use - Part 1, to demonstrate conformance of the equipment to the Low Voltage Directive, 73/23/EEC. Conformance to the Machinery Directive is assessed by performing a line-by-line evaluation to the Essential Health and Safety Requirements of the Directive. Third Party Field Labeling of EquipmentAccording to OSHA workplace safety requirements called out in 29 CFR Section 1910.303 and the National Electrical Code, all “conductors of electricity” must be “approved,” “identified,” “listed” or “labeled”. When listing your product by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) is not practical, the code allows for a capable third party to perform a one-time electrical; evaluation of your product. Belay Engineering can perform these tests at your or your customer’s facility depending on the equipment. Title 22 Tank AssessmentsPer the requirements stated in Title 22, Article 10, section 66265.191 of the California Code of Regulations, Design and Installation of Existing Tank Systems or Components by the owner and operator shall obtain a written assessment reviewed and certified by an independent, qualified, professional engineer, registered in California in accordance with section 66270.11(d) attesting that the system has sufficient structural integrity, is acceptable for the transferring, storing and treating of hazardous waste, and that the tank and containment system are suitably designed to achieve the requirements stated. Warning label and equipment manual/documentation reviewsAs part of a comprehensive safety review or as a stand alone review, Belay Engineering will review and provide comments and recommendations on hazard warning labels on the equipment and warnings in the manuals. Software Safety and TestingWe evaluate the system hazards and identify which hazards could result from software failure. The relationship between hardware and software is evaluated. Testing is performed to verify the results of the analysis and to identify possible weaknesses in the software program.
